Privacy Policy

This is a private website. It uses no tracking, no analytics, no advertising and no embedded content from third parties. Fonts, images and videos are served from this site's own server.

Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is Hannes Peterseim. Name and postal address are given in the imprint. Email: hannes@petit-souris.de.

Hosting and server logs

The website runs on a server provided by IONOS SE Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. Whenever a page is requested, the web server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, status code, referring page, and browser and operating system.

This data is stored in log files to keep the site running and secure and to fend off attacks. It is deleted after 7 days at the latest and is not combined with other data. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the site.

Contact form and messages from the console

If you use the contact form or write a message in the console, you submit your name, email address and message. This information is not stored in a database; it is forwarded to me by email and kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Emails are handled by this site's own mail server on the same machine; no third parties are involved.

To prevent abuse, your IP address is used briefly to limit the number of submissions (no more than 5 in 30 minutes). It is only cached for this purpose and then discarded. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is answering requests and preventing spam.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies for advertising or analytics. It only uses what is technically necessary or explicitly requested:

• Form protection cookie (csrf-token_…): prevents forged form submissions. It is set only when a form is submitted, deleted right afterwards and contains no personal data.
• Session cookie (PHPSESSID): set only when logging in to the admin area and deleted when the browser is closed.
• Local storage (localStorage): remembers settings such as colour scheme, sound on or off, video player volume and console high scores. This data stays in your browser and is not sent to the server. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

The legal basis is Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), as storage is strictly necessary for the function you requested. No consent is required.

Anonymous discovery counter

The console contains hidden commands. When one is found, the server only increments one counter per command and stores the date without a time. Neither IP address nor session nor any other identifier that could point to a person is stored. The IP address is only used briefly to limit the number of reports.

Admin area

For logging in to the admin area, a username, password (as a hash only) and, where applicable, passkeys are stored. This concerns only the site operator, not visitors.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). An informal email is sufficient.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the place of your residence.

Encryption

All pages are delivered exclusively over encrypted HTTPS connections.
